We champion imagination, attunement, and inclusive community-building through experiences and offerings that invite people of all ages to explore, create, and rediscover joy within their local communities and ecosystems. We honor both the spark of inspiration and the craft of bringing ideas to life. At our core, we believe that wit can open minds, whimsy can open hearts, and that a little thoughtful attention and curiosity can make all the difference in the world.
In Good Company
To us, nature isn’t an abstract idea — it’s the living world we’re embedded in and the community we interact with each day. The cows who know our footsteps and come to our calls. The chickens who love their snacks and have opinions about everything. The grasses that grow in the pastures (and in our gardens), the giant oaks that we can’t help but admire, and the wild visitors who come and go on their own schedules. We work to know them, and it sure feels like they know us, each of us with our quirks and tendencies and ways of being.
These relationships shape how we see the world and how we show up in it. Working alongside the animals and plants teaches us patience, attention, reciprocity, and the art of trying again. Every moment offers a chance to learn something new.
This is the inspiration behind The Wit and Whimsy Foundation: real, everyday connections with our neighbors (human and otherwise) that remind us what matters and encourage us to continue showing up, paying attention, and doing whatever is ours to do.
What’s Ahead
We’re currently planting the seeds for our first season. From seasonal workshops and local partnerships to everyday adventures of wonder, we’re excited to share what we’ve been dreaming up.
How We’re Funded
The Wit and Whimsy Foundation is a federally recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit and an unincorporated nonprofit association in the state of Alabama. We do not solicit donations.
